Default Focus ST as Replacement

I've been debating on this for several months. I just had a baby and thought having one fun, practical car would be a good idea rather than having two cars. I currently have my S with a daily driver Focus beater car.

I test drove a Focus ST and loved it. I also get a great discount on Ford vehicles through my work. I was about to post my S for sale this weekend, but couldn't get myself to do it. I just keep going back and forth on what to do. Any opinions and thoughts to help me decide would be greatly appreciated because I'm pretty stumped. My biggest worry is going to be regretting that I sold the S.

Are both cars paid off? If so I don't see the point in getting a brand new car. Unless the Focus is absolutely falling apart i'd leave your car situation alone.

Both cars are completely paid off and the Focus is not falling apart. Pretty dependable actually. By selling both cars, I could actually get an ST1 without really paying anything because of my discount. I was shooting for the ST1 because the Recaros actually weren't the most comfortable for me, and I like the minimalist approach to the ST1.

Personally I think you'll regret it and miss the S... then get another later. It's why they say "they always come back..." I'm an example of that lol. I love the ST's and think they're great cars. That said, I owned an STi that (imo) is a better car than the ST and even though I really enjoyed that car and had zero complaints... nothing feels quite like an S2000. I'm with Wolfpack, keep the situation the same

You might be suffering from just wanting something new. I can understand that. I would stick with what you have. It's a better all around option. When you want fun the S2k is a better car. When you want the top down without a Sawzall the S is a better option. When you want to throw a muddy bike in the back of the car the old Focus is a better option. When you want better mileage the old Focus is probably a better option. When one car is in the shop the pair is a better option.

Every now and again I want something new to replace my two cars. My S has been sitting a lot lately and just recently started bothering my back.

Instead of dumping money into a new car, go rent something for a few weekends and get the new car thing out of your system. Then come back home to two paid of cars that run well.
