Default FoMoCo and their stang

We all know that in the next 2 years there will be an all out "vehicular war." It will basically be domestics vs. domestics and Japan vs. Japan. I mean were gonna have the 350z, s2000, supra going at it. And on the domestic side were gonna have the New Mustang, Dodge Challenger, and Chevy Camaro. Its gonna be sick.

What i personally envy about them is the power increasage. Today they have 300hp. In just 3-4 yrs ford will have upped it to 350?!?! I mean thats 350 out the gate from the showroom floor. Granted it will be heavy and wont handle the greatest but still. I dont see myself ever in a stang, but the evolution is interesting nonetheless.

btw, motortrend ford will be using their new Hurricane 5.0liter V8. Looks like the 5.0

It will be interesting on the domestic front, but the Challanger is suppose to arrive a year before the Camaro and the Mustang is going to go through a body change by then so we are not quite sure what we will have.

Plus, the Camaro will come with 400 HP off of the showroom floor and we know Dodge has all those awesome SRT engines so Ford is going to have to pick things up a bit.

Like you said, it's going to be interesting.

Ford does make a 500HP version of the current S197 platform in the GT500, that is quite pathetic isn't it ? The current S197 GT also outperforms all the current V8 SRT vehicles with it's meager 300HP/320TQ and cheaper price. Early reports have the Challenger and Camaro priced well north of $35K U.S. as well. Funny, you think Ford needs to pull up its britches, I would say Ford currently has a strong advantage and will not be played down by a new Camaro and Challenger that as yet, do not exist other than in showcar form.

But that car is being out performed by a stock C6 Corvette. Every magazine article and TV review I have seen have said that the car does not feel like it has 500 HP. The car doesn't handle nearly as well as cars it competes with. It may go well in a straight line, but it needs to do it quicker. Good luck finding one for under $50,000 by the way. If you are going to take this engine and put it in the GT model in three years, you have just killed the exclusivity of the GT500. You lose some big members of your fan base by cutting their legs out from under them.

Look, I am a big Ford fan and have loved the Mustang for many years, but the public perception is that the Mustang will have to compete with the Camaro. It was that way in the past and it will be that way in the future.

The Boss 302 was created to compete specifically with the Camaro. Ford will have to do the same this time.

The C6 Corvette is somewhat more expensive than the GT500, here in Canada by more than $15K in base form, the GT500 also carries four people. Ford will produce far more GT500's than they did Terminator's, much like the PS3 saga, things will come full circle and I dare say in the next year or so one can be had at or possibly below MSRP. Regardless of what people think, the GT500 makes a credible 500HP, they do weigh alot (as will the Camaro and Challenger) however. Fast Fords got a 12.2 @ 117 in a stock GT500, lightly modded 500's are already in the 10's, nothing to slouch at. I never said Ford was going to put the 5.4 in the next gen Mustang but you can be rest assured the next GT will have more power than the current car. There is a great "Chevy vs. Ford" article in the new R&T which features the Mustang and Corvette. The GT500 has garnered many kudo's in the articles I have read.

Every GT500 I have seen had a 12-20k markup, so in some cases a C6 may actually be cheaper.

guess that tells you what people think of the two cars right there. Kind of silly to argue "yeah, but the C6 is faster than the GT500" when people are willing to pay more for the Mustang. And while some people might pick one over the other, they are really choosing a two seat sports car over a GT coupe, not choosing between a Corvette and a Mustang. They don't compete with each other.

They take a step forward with power then they take a step back with the weight. I don't see the car getting any better unless you're easily impressed by hp numbers. The only thing that impresses me is how horrible they handle.

the only thing that impresses me is the number of people who run their mouths about cars they've never driven.
