Talking Forget that ole Porsche - git yerself a Jeep!

https://www.inc.com/chris-matyszczyk...-response.html

There was Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Porsche North America revealing, just a few weeks ago, that some customers were giving back their Porsche Caymans and Boxsters and turning to a completely different sort of car.

The Jeep Wrangler.

Apparently P cars are old news, and the future is Jeeps.

Having driven a range of Wranglers, from all of the recent generations...anyone doing so is a massive idiot. New Wrangler buyers spend $45,000 to have something with the on-road sophistication of a 1997 Ranger.

Not me. I'd like to have a Wrangler as a third beast for a different kind of fun, but those turning in Caymans for Wranglers just want the current trendy vehicle. I think I could have fun in a Wrangler, but the few JL's I drove, while improved are still big, heavy, and slow. The ride is "more refined" than it WAS, but it WAS terrible.

I am not knocking Wranglers. I get why people like them. But they are not a dream to daily unless you live in Moab. If we hit a giant recession and they give decent ones away for $30k, count me in. At $45-60k, no way in hell.

I guess you can put me in that category. I’m also willing to bet we’re in different tax brackets .

Nothing like a naked, jacked up Wrangler. Some are just more suited for Volkswagens...

I’d rather be shot in the face.

I want one but it doesn't fit my lifestyle. I'd be better off buying a pickup or suv.

Same. My understanding is the Jeep Wrangler in particular is the four-wheeled equivalent to a root canal with regard to driving experience. The cult following of them has always been perplexing.

I am on my 6th 4 door unlimited wrangler. My 2018 JL has 8 speed auto, heated leather seats, 4" lift, 37's and still GPS'd at 116mph..... and If I want I can actually take it seriously off roading.... (this one is too nice for me to destroy offroad like my last 3 so its more of a mall crawler).

You can get at least $5k off sticker.. maybe more now..... and they hold their value super well....

I am at 30k miles in 18 months with my current JL. zero issues.

downside is 16mpg in mixed driving.
