Default FORMULA ONE

Is there such a thing as little leage formula one cars? I heard someone mention that their friend owns a formula one type car that he races on weekends. Is that possible? Are there such cars that can be bought for 100-200K that look and drive like formula one cars. Not at the same lever of course, but similar concept. I looked on the net, but couldn't find anything.

Formula 3 is a European race series. Theres also a Japanese equivilant called Forumla Nippon. Below those, Theres also Formula Mazda and Formula Ford race series. I believe Formula Ford does not use aero for their cars. The later two I believe are more accessible to people who are looking to buy race cars.

Recognized by SCCA:
Formula Ford. Formula Vee. Formula Atlantic. Formula Mazda. Formula Continental. Formula 500. Formula S.

Elsewhere:
Formula 3. Formula Nippon. A1 Grand Prix. GP2. Plenty others I don't know about as well, I'm sure.

A1GP looks pretty cool. I hope they get some kind of a TV deal soon. I like the concept of having nations as teams.

Wow, I never knew they had so many minor formula racing teams. Is there anything where a complete rookie can buy a formula type car and drive it on a track? for 100-200K range?
