Frist real GTR/Turbo/Z06 Comparison
#21
It pisses me off that I subscribe to all these damn car magazines and the reviews/comparisons are on the website well before my mag arrives in the mail. Makes me wonder why I even subscribe.
Anyway, impressive showing by the GT-R, looks like it may take the ZR1 to knock the GT-R around at the track.

yes its faster around a track. yes its a great allaround car. yes its ugly.
but none of you can (or I) can get any of these cars around the track at those times. however, when fanboys buy the gtr and pull up next to a z06 or viper on the highway, they are going to be in for a rude awakening.

Also, on the road, it's naive to assume that a Z06 can launch consistently as well as a GT-R.
I would still buy a Z06 in a heartbeat over a GT-R (rather I'd have a modded LS3 and $25k in the bank), but the GT-R can get the job done better for the majority of less than excellent drivers.

Interestingly enough, the US GTR seems to be down about 60hp from the Japanese version.
Based on the ET and trap-speed, it seems to be in the 465-480 HP range, slightly OVER-rated... very strange.

Me too. The ZR-1 is gonna make mince-meat out of all these cars.
Nissan will come back with Vspec, Evo and Nismo versions. Z06 isn't a base model like GT-R is.

From a roll, though, I would expect the Nissan to die pretty quickly against the Viper, Z06, and 911 Turbo. Trap speeds indicate more power for all three...

And I know this is going to sound like an excuse but I've mentioned it before.
Test temperature was 57*F. With sticky rubber, that's still pretty cool, giving a big advantage to AWD with four contact patches instead of two. Higher temps might level the playing field a bit.
