FRS 2013
So I have a s2k CR 2008,I race button willow and streets of willow with my cousin sharing the S on the race track for a few months.
He is ready to buy a sports car of his own and he wants a FRS but love and appreciates the s2k.
My question is a honest opinion of the positive and negatives from a FRS or a S2K, maybe even a different choice of car for the same ball park.
We have other daily drivers, I honestly would love a different car in the garage to work and race.
Thank you for your opinion, I just feel I praise my car way too much, but I also see the tricked out FRS and Subaru's kicking ass on the race track.

I find the frs to be too bloated due to having to meet regulations, and the outward visibility is definitely not as good as the s2000. If you both enjoy the s2000, grab another one while you still can - the car is not going to be here forever, might as well enjoy it while you can. On top of that, the s2000 has a more timeless design in comparison.
Hood and front fenderlines came out disappointingly high considering the flat-4, possibly more due to struts up front than pedestrian impact regs. Still, I wouldn't call it "bloated", particularly when it's the same weight to 100 lb. lighter than the S2k.
Outward visibility was not a problem at all for me when I test drove one, and that's usually a pretty obvious shortcoming. For sure overall outward visibility will be BETTER in an FR-S than an S2k with the top up, and worse (of course) compared to an S2k with the top down.

Read this thread. it answers pretty much everything you're asking. Psychoazn is a socal track junkie with a CR and a BRZ.

What sort of racing would your cousin be doing, and would the rules of that class/sanctioning body favor one platform over the other?
I think there are many threads on this forum already comparing the S2000 to twins, and since you opened it up to others I'm going to throw in a suggestion for the Miata (any generation). IMO that is one of the great values in road racing today, with well established race series, a huge enthusiast (hence knowledge) base, plentiful parts and mods available, and a darn good platform to start on.
Since your cousin has a daily, he could probably pick up a used NA for $5k and use the rest of the $20k that he would have spent on the FRS and do whatever (assume he'll need a trailer and tow vehicle, tires/pads/fluids, stay in hotels rather than camp out at track days, gas, etc).
