Default The future of auto restoration?

There's been plenty of threads discussing the potential of the S2000 and other cars of today becoming classics in the future, but how difficult will it be to restore a car from today in 20-30 years?

Just like there are companies that specialize in making parts to restore old muscle cars, will there be aftermarket companies that specialize in making parts and modules to restore cars from the early 21st century?

As long as there's a market for it, sure.

However, since the S2000 is in reasonably limited production, you might be stuck looking through junkyards for restoration parts

I believe I read BMW was going to make parts for a car like a Z8 for at least 30 years. They worry about a car like that that's so limited it's going to be hard for a company to re-manufacture parts for just a small number of cars.

A car like the S2000 with 20K+ sold should be better off for re-manufactured parts.
