Default G dilema

Would you guys rather buy a very slightly used G35 coupe with 280HP or buy a new 05 G35 coupe that now have 298HP? The price difference will be approx $3000-$5000. Is the newer G with increased HP (but 10 less TQ) noticably faster? Is it worth the money difference? I know they also updated little things here and there but the car is pretty much the same except the engine output. Which would you rather buy?

For the price difference, I'd buy used.

Have any of you driven the newer one? I took one out the other day but it was auto and "only" had 280, instead of 298 with the coupe, and it felt slow. You think this may have been because of the auto transmission?

*edit* ok not "slow", but slower then I expected. Also they won't let me drive a manual transmission one at both dealerships I went to so that's why I am asking this question.

i think 5 g's is worth forking up for a new car. you get the options you want and the peace of mind that it's new. if i bought the used one, i would always tell myself that i shoulda got the new one.

now if you're a penny pincher, then i would go with the used cuz they're similar anyways and saving 5 g's is a deal.

$5000 is a lot of money.

also, many of the mags have found that the new 298-300HP VQ35 in the Z and G35 is actually slower than the 280-286HP version.

R&T in their sports car comparo found the Anniversary Z with 300HP slower around the track than the old version.

Basically, they changed the mappings, exchanging torque for more high end power.

As long as the car is in great condition and has what you want, get used. You still have the warranty.

i would try to find a used 6mt, because they come with the brembos, the new ones dont. Also for 5 grand you can get a greddy turbo kit for it and smoke the 05 like no tommorrow. This is what my friend has done and the car is just sick.

the 05 G is not faster b/c of increased weight.
Plus: nicer interior. bigger rims.
Minus: no Brembos.
you can get a brand spanking new G for invoice now so the price difference may not be that great.
