G35 coupe 03-04
#21
I would have to agree with most of the comments so far on the G35c. My brother and I used to really like that car when it first came out. It was his dream car of the moment. Then when he finally bought an '03 a couple years back, we immediately lost that loving feeling for it. He finally sold it 6 months later after trying to get rid of it after 1 month of ownership.
We agreed on some negatives:
-terrible quality interior ; everything felt very cheap (ie. I pressed into the dash with my finger and thought I was going to break it)
-gas mileage
-fit and finish (ie. I was in disbelief when I saw the paint on the rims starting to flake off ; this also happened to a neighbor with a G37s c recently)
-uninspiring manual transmission ; the shifter felt cheap and stiff
-boring to drive
We thought the positives were:
-nice exterior aesthetics when installed with front/rear lips + optional wheels (18" I believe). (Personally, the car looks very boring without those items, especially these days.)
-somewhat fast
-cornered pretty well but felt a little heavy
-relatively smooth ride
The sexy exhaust note was no longer a big deal as you couldn't really hear it when inside the car anyway. The exhaust note was really unique and cool at the time, but as already mentioned, it's not a big deal anymore.
This car quickly faded from our hearts. She looked and sounded great at the time, but she got old and boring soon after. After ridding himself of the G35c, he picked up an '06 Si coupe and has been infinitely happier since then.
Nonetheless, good luck on your decision. I'd personally go with other choices, especially if this is going to be a daily driver.

I've said my piece about the G35 several times on S2ki before so here are the highlights (Lowlights really).
- Terrible Gas mileage. I was getting 15 and 16 with 75% highway.
- Very heavy. I had a 08 Mustang GT that weighed nearly the same and felt several hundred pounds lighter.
- Crappy durability. The clutch completely wore out by 50k miles. The rotors when at the same time. The axles clicked incessantly. The interior is cheap and scuffs easily.
- Horrible transmission. Heavy clutch. Notchy shifter. Pulled 3500 RPM on the Freeway at 75 which is wayyyyyyyyy to high for a V6 imo.
- Burned Oil like crazy.
- Crappy paint that scratched and chipped.
- Terrible engine note while inside the car.
FYI my car was a 04 6 speed coupe. Avoid the G35 and Nissan altogether if it has the VQ series engine and associated drivetrain.

My GF drives a new big supercharged Range Rover and she likes the Acura, so I guess it is ok.

How does the TSX fare against the Civic Si?
Oh that's right, they're slow as hell

glad your supercharged range rover girlfriend approves of the TL, so I guess that makes it ok.
I guess for future reference, I should have quantified why I thought her opinion was relevant.

Wow, I had no idea these cars were so bad. I think the styling got dated even though it looks so good when they first came out.
OP, what is the price range for your DD?
