Change has been long overdue at GM. I don't have a problem with them getting a new CEO. The one thing that I do have a problem with is that the request came from Obama. The request should have been made by GM shareholders.

The last time I checked our government has its hands deep in this situation. Not sure how you can discuss anything about the future of GM without taking about politics.

If the government want/force them to build more expensive and not-profitable hybrid to satisfy its environmental constituents, do you think GM would have a choice?

Like it or not, the future of GM has a lot to do with politics ever since they accepted the bailout money.

Am I saying it is right? No.

But it is the reality, and reality nowadays sucks!

Well, Obama is a shareholder now.

Wait... Wagner got the boot for asking for 10-20 billion? The union got the shaft and restructured their deals.

WHILE.... The banks and AIG got 100s of billion dollars and spending it like no tomorrow. Gave bonus money to management for doing a failing job. And their CEOs don't get the boot?

Obama and his staff just don't understand 20Billion <<<<< 300+ Billion. Guess they all failed in math in college.
I think Wagoner go t the boot for being a bad CEO.. He did some good things, but over the past 9 years at GM, he bet on SUVs instead of cars when the storm clouds of high gas were on the horizon, he's been in the red for 5 years now, and he's too close to the Union. A new CEO willing to slash and burn is what's needed, and Wagoner wasn't getting the job done.

The Gov't is sending a message - yes, you will get money for your company, but its going to cost you personally. Otherwise, everyone will just ask for money (like some already are).

Is the problem with the CEO or the UAW failing to make concessions to help turn GM around financially?
