God bless 'Merica! Muscle cars are growing on me fast.

The voodoo engine noise really cant be beat, but its long term durability I'd questionable. As far as chassis dynamics go, the ss 1le is as good or better. The shelby does feel more special, but its largely due to marketing and perception.

I agree that the Camaros have a better chassis. But it’s the motor in the gt350 that makes it feel special, not marketing.

Well engine sound aside, the driving dynamics really arent anything more special than an ss 1le. Alot of the specialness comes from it being a shelby thats well received by the public. But yes the noise that emits from the tail pipes is glorious and makes me miss owning one. Just be sure you get a late 2017+ to get the redesigned oil filter, and all 2017+ come with the coolers.

It's not about the engine sound. It's the way it makes power. I much prefer how high-revving naturally-aspirated cars make power on a race track. It's totally a personal preference, but I'll pick the GT350 over the Camaro in any trim over and over again personally just as I'd take a 911 GT3 over a GT2 because of the way it makes power.

Curious radiantm3, have you driven an LS7-powered car? I absolutely loved my C6Z (and am somewhat underwhelmed by my C7Z) for the same reason. I am considering putting the LS7 into my S2000.

Mine is a 2017 and it has the old filter. They switched to the canister+ paper filter sometime mid cycle unfortunately.

Anyway, get the car, it really is special, but for me the shortcomings added up to the point it wasn't worth the price.

I happen to own a Viper as well, just a little younger than most in here that own Vipers. I absolutely love this car. It’s almost perfection to me. I have tracked it, cruised it, drag raced, and stared at it... haha. Tomorrow I’m taking it golfing for my birthday. There’s nothing the car can’t do TBH.
We are coming up on 4 years of ownership and we will never sell the car, ever.
If you have 80-100k in your pocket, try and look real hard at the gen 5 Viper. You will not be disappointed

Beautiful car! I would love to test drive a Viper, even an older model.

So far if I ever give up my C6Z the Viper is probably my top choice - naturally aspirated and manual
The usual suspects i.e. C6 ZR1 and C7 Z06 are both boosted, which are nice in their own way (never tried a C6ZR1 but the LT4 is super torquey and lots of fun), but they lack a bit of the LS7's top end sensation and drama IMHO. The extra 500rpm redline for the LS7 feels like an eternity for a Chevy smallblock, and after 3 years I still can't wipe the shit eating grin I get from redlining the C6Z, which I do daily.
That said boosted cars and make so much more power easily, and the super charger whine up front + the V8 rumble out back are straight up intoxicating. Maybe I'll keep the C6Z and just add on a gen6 Camaro ZL1 (non 1le) once the ZL1 gets real affordable
