didn't call and check. Maybe it's junk.. maybe it's not. I figure I'd spread the wealth - cut/paste cost me nothing.

As well. I'm just not sure if morally comfortable going if I have NO interest in buying a BMW. You'd think it would have concerned be before, having been to drive events w/BMW, M-B, Jaguar, and Hyundai.

Shoot, neither Morgan or Lotus ever invite me to such things.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. There is a 0% chance I will buy a new BMW any time soon. Not sure I want to deal with the BS and obvious sales push and waste people's time just to drive a few cars.

Have you been to a Ride-n-Drive event before? All of the ones that I've been to have had zero pressure to buy. Ride-n-Drives are great if you want to compare several cars (that are at the event) in one place, or if you just want to rag on a handful of cars that you might otherwise not bother driving.
Also, I went to a Mercedes event a while back, and they had great food, giveaways, etc.

It's a marketing ploy, but I think it's one that works. Even if you go with no intention of buying, you still might head back to the office and tell your co-workers about how much fun you had driving such-and-such model.

I'm not above going to drive events hosted by different manufacturer's to rag out a few vehicles, eat decent food, and people watch. Manufacturers don't care because it may influence a purchase decision down the road.

+1

I've been to BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Mazda, and Lexus events. They don't care if you're looking to buy, they're just looking to get traffic and hopefully get you enthused about their vehicles. You never know when you might be a customer sometime down the road.

Lexus and Audi events are far-and-away the best for food, presentation, and class. The Mazda and Audi events were the most fun for the driver.

I've been to a number of them. Typically a good time. Mazda's aren't all that great. The claim that it was the largest performance driving school thing was complete crap. However, the other Mazda event I went to was really good. I went to a Subi one and the shot gun driver was John Paul Jr! I really wish he rather than I was the one driving that day. The Mercedes event was a lot of pomp but still fun. The SAAB was was surprisingly good.
Perhaps the most fun was the Jeep event. It helped that I won a Eureka tent. It was also really cool to drive a Jeep with the steering deliberately connected backwards. It takes a moment to get around the idea that you turn the wheel clockwise to turn right.

It can't hurt. Go out and rag on those cars. I'm pretty sure they are parted out/destroyed after those events anyway.

I received one as well. I'm considering doing it, but I didn't see the date listed on it... I'm out of town for the month, so if it's any time soon, that would be a bummer.
