Got my first parking ticket today...
After about 14 years of driving, got my first parking ticket today. I was parked facing the wrong way on the street. What's silly is that I live in a small town where there is very little traffic (and by little, I mean one car goes down my road a day). I got the ticket at 12:50am. But that's another topic.
The ticket was marked as a "traffic" violation (vs. non-traffic). Will this actually raise my insurance rate? I was always led to believe that a non-moving violation is considered a non-traffic violation, and that insurance will not go up from non-moving violations.
Please forgive me for such a silly question, but this is my first parking ticket ever. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I believe it has more to do with who gave you the ticket. Traffic violations are usually police, where non-traffic are metermaids.
I recieved a no front plate from an officer and got a 181 dollar traffic violation.
Then later recieved a 90 dollar non-traffic violation from a meter maid (which was written with my parking backwards ticket).
edit: neither showed up on my insurance. so you're fine.

The ticket specified "traffic violation" because the same form is used for both traffic and non traffic/ summary violations. It should have no affect on your insurance because it was not a moving traffic citation.

Only thing that shows up on insurance is "moving" violations, parking ticket you pay (or contest) and that's it
This is 100% right, some parking fines are as small as $5.00 where I live if its just a meter ticket.
Don't forget to pay it though, I did that once . . . easy to do, since they are so common downtown. I was in my wife's car and the ticket was written to the plate that was in her name. When the ticket came due and wasn't paid they suspended her license.
Needless to say, I slept on the couch until I got that little problem fixed.

In Las Vegas I parked at a meter on the street. When I returned I had two parking tickets, issued by the same person, timestamped one minute apart. One was for "expired meter" the other was for "invalid parking space"
Since when do they put meters by invalid spaces??
It was my last day in town so I couldn't stick around to go to court...tried to fight it by phone but no luck. With late fees I ended up paying $240 for two $40 tickets.
