I would also say the Taurus. Not because the super oval was really that bad but because it was such an important car. Plenty of updates have lost what made the original good be it styling, performance, etc. The problem is basically none (in recent times) ever sold as well as the Taurus. Really, the '86 car was quite a ground breaker for Ford and as a trend leader for so many companies selling cars in the US. Unfortunately Ford tried to relive that styling success but failed. It didn't help that the new car was only good but not great.

Does this mean you thought that earlier model Yugos and Pacers were much better?

AP1 to AP2... oval tailpipes ruined the car.

Umm, this is a thread about existing cars that were updated, not ones that were lemons from day 1. Only the Scion xB and 74-77 Camaro fit the post's intent.

The new "Bangle" BMW's. I loved the 01-06 M3's but don't dig the new ones.

The VW Beetle. I love the classic styling of the older cars but the "new" Beetle is just blah.

Agree on the MR2 Spyder, the older MR2's are very nice, new ones, not so much.

Also agree that the Mustang II's were pretty horrible

Gen 4 and 5 eclipse.
Last 2 generations of Prelude (they weren't butt ugly, but led to the downfall of the car.)

The current Mitsubishi Galant, worst ever, a cardboard box has more appeal.

I disagree with the E series. I would put 2nd and 3rd gen DSM instead. The 1st gen DSM were iconic IMHO. The rest are pathetic. 3.8l V6 in sports coupe and it is still boring and slow. Otherwise you list is spot on.

10. 996's - skinny butt and omelette headlights.
