+1 on the eclipse.

Dropping the turbo and AWD was a huge mistake.

Plus it's ugly(er).

Lexus SC is another I would add to the list. Looked great for the 92-00 models, like with the MR2, Toyota turned it into a ladies car, an old lady at that.
Absolutely right. The SC430 is an affront to the great design of the SC300 and SC400.

I guess I disagree. I think the SC430 is a beautiful machine, if completely neglected in the lineup and not as practical as the SC300/400. The SC300/400 is nice for sure, and rock solid. I've driven a few nice examples that felt like they hadn't age a bit. But the SC430 carries an air of class to it the first gen just did not have in comparison. Plus, the SC430 holds its value pretty well. The 2002 model (first year 2nd gen) routinely sells used in the mid $30ks, for a car that started at about $60k 5-6 years ago. I do agree it is an age 45+ car for women, but it still looks great and is very well made.

It's certainly not an enthusiast's car by any means, and just a really nice, clean-looking practical hardtop that will keep running when the neighbor's SL is in the shop.

I did not see anyone mention the re-designed G-wagon yet. Despite the "thug" appeal, the original design was classic, now it's just another SUV.

I also did not care for the mid-model update on what proved to be the final Camaros and Firebirds. It looked like the Camaro rear-ended a chrysler LHS, while the headlights on the Firebird/Trans Am just never looked like they were closed.

Whoever mentioned the Galant was dead-on. For awhile it looked so good that Lincoln took the design, made it rear-wheel drive and called it the LS. Now it is one of the most forgettable cars on the market.

Can't compare classics to the re-introduced models. The older ones will always be better because all are more appealing IMO.

I'll add another. The first Nissan 300ZX (1984?). They took all the sex out of the earlier 280ZX, which itself took the sport out of the 240/260/280Z's but made a great affordable GT car. I think it got slower too? Gack!

The GL is not the G. It's a different line. You can still buy the G.

the ford jaguars.

they've always been awful cars for reliability, but they had style, grace, poise... now they don't even have the cool leaper hood ornament.
