Default Has/Does anyone own a Murano?

Been looking at Murano's 03-07, Im interested in hearing PPL's experiences on reliability since i heard a few horror stories with the transmission.

For the price i think its a VERY well equiped choice

My family has one, it was the first year with the CVT. I actually like the transmission quite a bit, it seems like there's always power if you mash on the pedal. I believe there's an extended warranty on the CVT because of the issues it's had.

After 6 years ours started dieing in hot weather and the fuel pump fuse was blowing. It ended up being a harness, but they didn't figure it out until after spending a ton of money in replacement parts (Fuel Pump, IPDM, Mass Air Flow Meter). We had it under extended warranty so not a big deal, but it would have been costly for most people.

Back in 2007, I got an '06 Murano for 2 months as a loaner and I must say it was a fantastic vehicle. Very smooth ride, not too bad gas mileage, decent oomph, and the CVT wasn't a problem (at least not for the couple of months I drove it).

My brother has one and he likes it. I haven't driven it but I've ridden in it and it seemed nice. The Top Gear boys seemed to be fans as well.

Just my reccommendation, i don't know about your area but around me FX35's are not much more than a murano and are by far superior vehicles. The interior, ride, handling and power is much much better. They also have very good reliability ratings and came with a factory 4/48k bumper to bumper and a 6/70k powertrain warranty. most out there are still under factory warranty for a while.

My brother has a Murano and i have the FX35, both have been good trucks, his warranty has expired and it has cost him a bit for small stupid repairs. The handling and accelration is much better in my car and my Bro wishes he bought the infinity for a couple grand more. Just food for thought and if you have any specific questions let me know.

I'd also consider the FX35 over the Murano. IMO, it's much better looking as well.

I have considered the FX35 however all the owner reviews i've read talk how sporty and rough the ride is (i want smooth), also the FX35 requires premium fuel and gets HORRID gas mileage. On top of that I have to drive to the ghetto for school and don't want to worry about dings, scratches, and theft.

The ride really isn't rough and is grossly over exaggerated. I have the sport package with the 20" wheels and live in CT where the roads are rough. The FX is responsive and steering is very direct, you get a lot more feedback from the 20's and the ride is firm not stiff, it is very smooth and quite comfortable for me.

Gas mileage maybe only 1-2mpg of a murano at most. Highway driving i do get 20 mpg going 80 in my FX. If the car is roughly the same price why would you worry about door dings and scratches in one but not the other?

In the end you should get what fits your needs best, but i am very happy i went with the infiniti over the Nissan, one trip to the dealership service department at both would make you realize the benefits as well. my infinity dealership treats you like a premium dealership should, nissan is across the street and the same owners and you get 40% of the service.
