Thumbs up Helmet cleaning

For the outside I just use furniture polish.

But my lining is not completely removable.

It is pretty greasy now after a few years of use.

How do you clean yours?

I think if the helmet gets to the point of needing extensive cleaning, it's time to buy a new helmet!

My first helmet (AGV) lasted 2 years then I crashed it...Now I've had two Shoei's for a combined 3 years that haven't needed more than water and shop towels to rub off bugs.

My autocross helmet was getting a bit funky last year. I put a folded bath towel in the sink. Half filled the sink with warm water and a mild detergent. (Woolite) Submersed the helmet and squeezed the soapy water into the lining. Drained the sink and filled with more water, no soap, and repeated until the soap was gone. It took a full day to dry, but it did the trick!

Pretty much what I did with my Arai, although used normal washing liquid (weak solution) rinsed it all out and have left it in the airing cupboard to dry

Febreze

Doosn't necessarily "clean" the helmet but take the "head" out of it.
