Another vote for the LS. The E just doesn't look as good as the LS. IMO, the Genesis needs more polishing.
I agree with devs2k on the "complications" on the newer Japanese lux cars vs. the Germans.

When I think of all new cars, Japanese, German, Korean, American I get really scared because I cannot imagine owning any of them with all these gizmos after they are 7-8 years old.
I don't expect my Dell laptop to last more than 3 years, how I can expect all these control units in a car to last a lifetime?

Thanks guys. I was thinking CPO too. Its just that I wanted him to get a new car.
I am trying to get the car with the least electrical toys on it. However I figure Nav and back up camera is a must at his age. His eyesight is a bit poor but His brain is sharp as a scapel!

If a new car, how about the GS350? It's still larger than his ES, and you could also get AWD.

Back-up camera with the parking sensors is the single most useful option I have ever seen, especially for a car this size. I amaze myself with the spots I can get into with that car.

LS all the way, if he's talking about keeping the car a truly long time (more than ten years). Reliable, classy, comfortable, good brand image, and it's already taken a big hit in depreciation.
The Hyundai, if purchased new, would have a 10 yr/100K mile warranty. How long is he keeping this car and how much will he drive it each year? If he's going to stay pretty close to 10K miles a year, I'd argue the Genesis is still the better buy overall. If it doesn't hold up, he has warranty to fall back on for most major issues.
