Help me with this trade offer
Background: I love my s2k, keep it clean and stock, never abuse it or drive it hard it's an 05 with 29k miles, only take her out in good weather.
New neighbor moved in next door and has a 2008 350z manual touring with 35k miles, I drove his car a few times and he drove mine - he wants to do a straight trade.
I like the torque and it's a nice car, looks like it was very well taken care of. However I am having second thoughts about doing the trade, I love the driving characteristic of the s2k and the lack of low end doesn't bother me at all.
If you were in my position would you trade? Why or why not?

It depends. You have to do what's right for you, but honestly:
1. 350z is everywhere! You could probably find a good deal on a new one, if you want. It's a long term investment, so you'll want that warranty.
2. Nissan isn't that reliable. Not in the same league with Honda
3. Not a convertible. You could always go hard top on s2000, you can't go convertible on 350z
4. Resale value on s2000 is a lot better than 350z.
5. engine on 350z is a good engine, but s2000 engine is amazing (winner of international engine of the year, 4 years straight)
But if you haven't "abused" or "drive hard" the s2000, maybe you should do a swap. Obviously, you've missed out all these years.
I have a sadomasochistic relationship with my S2000. Orgasms tend to be amazing most of the time.

Take the bra off, drop the top and live.
You own the best roadster in the world. The 350z is a mid-range want to be Jap muscle car. It corners like crap and I'll stop there.
If you do the trade, you'll see why he wanted to trade and watch your neighbor driving around in your perfect car.

No. Yes, the V6 has nice torque. However, I like the seats, interior, shifter and general driving characteristics of the S better. You might be feeling the newness of the other car. You want it because it's different but not really better. After you get used to the new you find it's not better and you would likely miss the S.
