Yes the GTR needs to be rebuit after going around the block, it sounds like crap, the ECU is impossible to tune, the car will tell Nissan if you fart on it and your warranty will be voided.
Are you serious? What kind of crap breaks down after just once around the block? I can ride my little daughter's bicycle around the block and it wouldn't break, and I'm WAY over the allowed weight on that bike.

Nissan FAILED! The GT-R FTL!!!

the cars probably underrated from the factory. i mean yea, i can see a new exhaust, intake pipe kit, boost controller and wastegate actuators can net some pretty decent power because weve all seen and know what can be done on boosted cars but these cars are different. the 480hp rating is just a "baseline" rating for the motors since theyre all handbuilt. take a look at the 335 and their N95 (i think?) motors. some of they dyno'd at 280whp and 300wtq
There have been several dynos on stock GT-Rs and they usually made around 435awhp, so yes, it's a bit underrated. That figure comes to about 510bhp, depending on how efficient its drivetrain is. Nissan claims this is one of the most efficient drivetrains, so 15% loss is a reasonable account.

Looks like tuning was done as well. Judging by your avatar, you should know how much power tuning yields on turbo cars
oh yeah...but i would think the delta in gains would be somewhat less pronounced on a car that's already pushing so much power out of the factory...

i didn't catch this from the link but did it mention what the baseline dyno numbers were? i read that GTRs are hand made so they all make slightly different numbers but the average seems to be 400 (mustang/dyno dynamic)-470whp(dynopack) depending on the type of dyno among other conditions from what i've seen so far. so unless this dyno reads way off we're looking at an easy 100whp+ gains...

for reference my 05 STi motor has cold air intake, boost control solenoid, catted turbo back exhaust and custom tune and baselined around 225whp and finished at 285whp/320wtq on a mustang dyno. 91 oct.

my old Evo IX had manual boost controller/catless turbo back exhaust and road tune and went from 250whp to 330whp on a dynojet. 91 oct.

100whp not found...

560whp should bring this GTR to c6 z06 trap speed (125mph) at the end of the 1/4 mark.

Actually, 560whp (or about 650-700bhp) would make it trap around 130mph. Some stock GT-Rs have been tested to trap 120-122mph, so additional 100+ whp would enable it to trap 130 comfortably. Of course, this is just an educated speculation.

I have a feeling the GT-R's engine will be even more moddable than the famous Supra's 2JZGTE, and with the 2JZ, even a fart near the engine bay would result in an increase of power.

ah yes i forgot about this...

wow a 130mph GTR will be a deadly car around a road course lol. i want to see a clip of a 560whp street(stock) tired GTR launch at a greenlight on the streets...it should be all sorts of epic win.

basically, everything will lose
