Honda 599 or 919
So I'm looking at new leftover Honda bikes, and it seems I can get my hands on an 06 599 or a 919 for about the same money. Considering its a naked design and I'm not an aggressive rider, do you think I should go with a 600 or 900?

A little lighter, easier to maneuver, better on gas - I don't see a reason to go for the bigger bike. Granted the 919 will have more low rpm torque, but it's not like the 599 is in any way a slouch. It's as fas as supersports were in the late 90s.

Personally I'd get the 919 without hesitation, but I don't know your experience or what you want out of the bike.
You don't need to be an aggressive rider to enjoy a lot of low end torque. Based on my limited reading, the gas mileage varies pretty significantly around town between the two, with the 599 better obivously.
The 919 is also going to run hotter. If you are going to be riding this bike around the city more than just enjoying it on the weekend on the open road, I think that's a real variable if you are the kind of guy that gears up. I DD my 600 SS instead of the liter for that exact reason, in full leathers the liter is almost unbearable in TX in traffic during the summer with the heat it puts off.
Insurance is pretty cheap on nakeds across the board which is a plus, my 2001 bandit 1200cc's insurance was the cheapest of any bike I've owned.

I'd pick the 919, b/c I like the torque. IIRC, isn't the 919 equipped w/ better spec componentry (i.e. suspension) too?

KTM's weren't really included in the big 4 etc. bikes I was referring too. Have you shopped around and that's the best you can do? If I recall correctly you are not under 25 or living in the ghetto.

I didn't shop last time, but I will when I get the renewal. I'm w/ progressive now - they give me 6 months full coverage of my Cayman S, Ridgeline, and Jetta TDI for about the same as 1 year on the SD!
