Default Honda Element?

With the sudden demise of my pickup truck , we need a new light hauler,4wd foul weather vehicle for the fleet.

A used Element seems like a good fit. It's basically CRV running gear ( which is a good thing in our experience) and they seem to be holding values.

I'm thinking 3-5 years old, 60-70K miles.

TIA for opinions/experinces.

I absolutely love mine. Such a unique vehicle and I couldn't be without it. Fits everything and there are so many tasteful mods. They are catching on with younger people.

As a Honda sales rep for many years, I can tell you it is a fantastic choice with bulletproof reliability. Values are def holding steady and in several cases I've seen them go for near original MSRP.

Found another... hauling my husband's Datsun

I haven't had issues with my Element and I bought it in 2007 with 18,000 miles on it (it's a 2007 SC) and now I'm at 115,000 miles. I always do oil changes, brake pads etc. The only "issue" was my brake caliper was seized.. which we replaced.. cost me like $100? I did both back ones just in case... so not bad!

Love this thing!

edit- the SC isn't 4wd

A buddy has 150K on his and it's still running quite strong. Original clutch, shifts nice, engine smoooth. Nice car if it suits your needs.

Thanks so far.

CRV also on the short list although it has basically has the same moving parts as the Element it misses the trucky like features.

We experienced excellent reliability with our 03 CRV manual, except for AC compressor failure at 80k.

Read somewhere that the AC compressor is less of an issue w Element although I can't see why and think it's [probably the same part number) Comments?

Ground clearance for the CRV seems higher but we would only use for occasional forays into the rural back acreage. How bout the Element?

Thanks for inputs.
