Honda S660
I had the privilege of going to Tochigi, Japan, where my '03 S2000 was built. While I was at Honda in Tochigi, I saw a 2016 Honda S660 in the parking lot. It looked amazing! it's a tiny 2-seat roadster that is apparently sold in the Japanese market. Here are a few pictures I snapped:
Here's a picture of me next to it:
I wish they made this for the US market!

im in Japan right now on vacation. I stopped by the Honda Welcome Center the other day and got to see the s660 as well as Asimo, the unicub etc.
the s660 is surprisingly roomy inside. but its got that awkward kei car proportion to it. Thats what its supposed to be though, and in that case, it really does make a great car.

I wish they would. I doubt it though. The closest thing ever to this was the MR2 Spyder and that bombed. Apart from straightline speed, I think the lack of practicality would be a deal breaker in the US. Pity.

Cool little cars, you should rent one while you're there.

It has a rear (mid) engine with a trunk up front like the MR2 or Boxster but it only has a 660cc engine. On-line there is talk about a turbo option but I don't believe this car had one. Apparently it has the option of a 6- speed manual or a CVT. Being a Kei-car designation, it's super light and compact. The ragtop is nothing like the S2000 - you roll it up and throw it in the trunk when not in use. Pricing in Yen is equivalent to around $20k.
This car makes the S2000 look big. The two seats look like they have similar room to an S2000, so the reduced size appears to come from the much shorter front end, the width and the height.
It's lower to the ground than a stock S2000 and looks like it has significantly less ground clearance. I don't know what the fuel economy is on this car but my guess is that it has to be around 50 mpg.
