Even then, I wonder if there are people out there that are resting and actually applying enough pressure to engage the throw out bearing. You'd have to be so oblivious to it...

I try to keep my foot away from the clutch when not actively shifting.

The internet and especially youtube is filled with haters so just ignore them. I picked up my S earlier this summer and its the first car I have owned with a manual so if I posted a video of me driving/shifting it would probably get an even bigger reaction from the youtube dbags.

It'll be excessive wear on the bearing and the clutch fork pivot if you're applying pressure.

And resting your hand on the shifter could also damage synchros if you accidentally move it. While I'd agree that hovering is unnecessary most of the time, anticipating is never a bad thing. But it's true though, I mean is your right foot hovering over the brake? Odds are its on the gas so there's no time saved.

Cutting the power via the clutch does mean immediate slowdown, if you get to the clutch before you get to the brake. It might make a miniscule difference...

You make hovering sound like edging...

First mistake is listening to youtube followers. Second mistake is caring what they say.

Drive like you want. Slip the clutch too much, you pay for a new clutch and no one else.

Drive, be happy

Correct me if I'm wrong, wouldn't you get more deceleration if you don't press the clutch during braking by using the engine to slow down the vehicle also?
