Not to mention that there is QUITE a difference between a high 13 second BEST-CASE SCENARIO for the S2000 versus an easy mid 12 second C6. A second a half is a lot in the 1/4 mile, not to mention the S2000 is doing 100mph and a second a half sooner, the C6 is doing at least 10-15mph faster.

Then take into consideration all the other goodies that the C6 offers and it's a great value.

I need one.

My gosh, there is a huge difference b/t high 13s and mid-low 12s. I drove a C5 Z06 and it took my breath away.

Now in everyday "stree use" I guess you won't be driving the Vette like it's hot. But every now and then when you can step on the gas it's magic.

Imagine the best "feeling" of acceleration in a S2000 (say 6600-8800 rpms) that's the way a Vette feels just off idle. You may get the picture.

I wanted to hear from a group that drives the S2000 as I knew I would get a atrue response. When I own a car I am proud of, I always give it the benifit of the doubt.
With this said, you guys still like the new Corvette, and I agree with you. Scott B has the best comparison I have ever read. I had a C4 and I loved it at the time. The C6 is like a full standard deviation above the C4. I never liked the fat rear of the C5.
I would like to know where I can get a 2005 C6 coupe with 6 speed for a real nice price. I live in Dallas and the 05's are all gone except for the auto's and I don't want a vett with a truck transmission!!!
Thankyou all for the reviews. And please let me know where the last of the 05's are hiding.
Thanks, I am glad you found the review worth the time. Since it popped to the top again, I took a few minutes to add another addendum of longer-term thoughts. So if you are interested, check it out. Don't worry, it is short and to the point.

Good luck.

The dealers are starting to get under my skin. They run ads in the news paper for specials deals on 05 at $7200 off MSRP, then they don't have any. But they are willing to let a 06 go with no additional dealer mark up.
This crap really pisses me off. Just once you would like to see a decent dealership out there. Makes me angry with Chevrolet for letting them gouge us like this. A real favor not charging and additional dealer mark up!
What gives?

This is what they emailed me back when I said I would take the car for the advertised price.

Hi,

How are you? We currently have two offers on the table for the car equipped as is. One offer is for $46K and the other is $47K and they both want the car this week. We have it listed at $45K, but I guess we have sort of a bidding war at this time. When we have offers like this and the price going up, we can't sell the car for below what is currently being offered.

I hope you understand.

Thanks!

Shawn

I strongly recommend Ken who is a broker for the purchase of these cars. It costs you nothing to use him. This is how I purchased mine and I was one of the very first to get a C6 vert in So Cal which is no small feat. No paying over MSRP. Besides my great experience, you can check out his reputation on the CorvetteForum.

His email (he also has a website): Ken@TheVetteNet.com

P.S. I have no skin in this game. I don't get anything for the recommendation and I don't know Ken outside of my deal (he is in Florida). He puts you together with actual Chevy dealers from around the US. In my case, mine came from ND with a courtesy delivery in So Cal.

promod69camaro,

Don't get discouraged. Spend some time on corvetteforum.com in the for sale section and you'll get matched up with a good dealer. Also, don't be afraid to look out of state. There is nothing more fun that taking a cheap 1-way flight and driving your new Corvette home!

I live in Dallas, but bought my C5 in Tennessee and did the Corvette Museum delivery option in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It was so much fun! Not to mention the neat experience of cruising back to Dallas with my dad!
