Default How are buells?

well, I've been looking for a bike for a while now, and one bike that I've never really considered is the buell.

does anyone have any experience with them? I mean how good are these bikes?

I will probably pick up a used zx6(636) or 600rr, but I dont want to discount anythign before even checkin it out

man, I wish i had the scratch for the new triumph 675...

They're craptacular. Wheelie monsters if you're into that sort of thing. Much better bikes can be had for the asking price of a Buell.

I'll say that the Lightning really is a nice looking bike. However based on the previous Buell's I've ridden, yeeeesh, they're bad. Therefore the use of the word craptacular .

Good handling and well designed drivetrains in most of their applications. They are becoming well known for their torque output. However, their quality still isn't good as a jap bike yet the price is pretty close. I've seen some good deals, even for a buell, on used ones.

I own a craptacular bike. More info can be found here: BadWeb. One thing to consider is the maintenance or lack thereof for the Buell vs. the "Jap Crap". Buells don't require valve adjustments every 6000 miles [save $], no chain adjustment/cleaning/lube every 200 miles (no chain maintenace required whatsoever) [save $], you can actually access and change the oil filter yourself [save $], if you drop the bike, parts can be had for cheap (cheaper than jap, italian, etc.) [save $]...well if you want more info, read the threads from the link for awhile. There is a wealth of knowledge over there. Just depends on what you want. Usually only people buy Buells after they realize that going 190 mph is useless unless your last name is Hayden or Rossi and want a bike that corners better than all the rest. Good luck either way.

I thought Buells were belt driven like their harley brothers? Gas being stored in the frame is kinda a neat Idea.
