Default How does this Turbo engine run on REGULAR?

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe makes slightly diff hp numbers on premium and regular gas. How is it that this motor can safely run on regular and get 30mpg??

I personally have never heard of a turbo taking regular unleaded. Then again, I dont pretend to be a major gear head.

It's just the mapping in the software for the ECU. Apparently this one will be able to adjust itself for both premium and regular. Actually most ECU's, including the S2000's, has this ability, however it is encouraged that you do not drive aggressively and/or hit VTEC while you have regular in the tank, as it could lead to detonation.

Ahh...I hope Hyundai has its system on point. I would suspect one would stick with premium after the simplest of mods.

The Genesis V8 runs on either regular or premium. But with regular, power is down to about 364hp, whereas 375 with premium.

As long as the compression is managed for the octane level, any gas should work.

Hmm that car is would be sick if that V8 swaps in there ... otherwise the car is so-so. Built to drift however, it weighs over 3600 lbs and makes crap for hp. Same motor that was in the Tiburon except with a turbo and CVVT. And the V6 would be decent but the car weighs too much. And to be honest, I dont think it looks that hot. + 1 for Hyundai's efforts and their notorious reliability.
