How often do you buy a new or used car?

The longest I have had a car was my first car, a 1990 Toyota Celica that I drove through high school and college.
Since then my wife and I have had a Nissan Versa, 4 S2000s, A Miata, A WRX, a Corvette, and the upcoming Golf R in the space of about 8 years (it sounds like a lot when I put it that way).
I think I am done buying S2000s for a while with the baby on the way, the only exception that I might make would be if my first S2000 came up for sale. But it's current owner seems to be enjoying it quite a lot so I am probably safe there.
Although, I did get to drive a friends CR and I was blown away by how much better it is than a regular S2000...

1993 Honda Accord
2001 VW Jetta 1.8T
2007 Mazda3 hatchback
2004 Mini Cooper
2003 Mazdaspeed Protege
2009 Mazdaspeed3
2002 Honda S2000
1991 Honda Accord
2004 BMW M3
2006 Mini Cooper S

currently driving the last two. looks like i'm averaging about a car a year. and, yes, planning to keep the S2000 forever!

2007 - 1996 VW Jetta
2007 - 1997 Dodge Avenger
2008 - 2003 Mitsubishi Galant
2010 - 1991 Honda Civic Si
2011 - 1999 Acura Integra
2011 - 2008 Honda Fit
2014 - 2014 Ford Fiesta SFE (1.0 Ecoboost)
2014 - 2012 Honda Fit (Still have)
2015 - 1997 Mazda Miata
2016 - 2000 Honda S2000 (Will keep forever)
I went through cars a lot in my younger/student days. I aim to keep the Fit for a decade (or more) as a daily, keep S2000 for as long as I can & I'd like to add one more 'fun' car to the stable to use as a drift car.

05 s2k
07 350z
06 mazda 3
08 350z
05 scion tC - backup
12 Civic Si - current daily
-kept all of the above cars 1-2 years.
next car is going to be RWD 400+hp under 3500lbs, either a c6 z06 or something from the germans
longest car I hung on to was the s2k, the civic Si is about to beat it out though.

Car history:
98 Civic LX - Dad bought new, I used then bought from my dad when graduated college in 06.
05 S2000 - I bought in 2010. Keeper.
13 4runner SR5 (wife's) bought new. Replaced her 04 Civic.
My Civic's been crashed, stolen, recovered, totalled, rebuilt and still is my rain/wallyworld dd. It will probably get demoted to 4th car status when we get around to having kids. The roads were a better place before everyone had 6000lb suvs and smart phones to dristract them.
I change vehicles far less than most on this list, but probably just as interested in cars as any of the serial purchasers.
I was about to purchase a used Toyota MRS after the civic was stolen last March. Cheap, fun to drive, nice 5-speed. I found my Civic on Craigslist right before it was to be declared a total loss.(thieves inability to drive stick likely saved the S)
No plans to replace the S2000, but the short list would include: Caterham/Westfield 7, C6 Z06, Cayman S or R. Possibly an Exige or E46 M3.
Looking at adding a newer Lexus GS in the next couple years to take over dd responsibilities. I really enjoy reading fellow owners experiences in cars humble to exotic.
