hp and torque are directly related you dipshits. you increase one you increase the other. you decrease one you decrease the other. the relationship is linear. this is the dumbest thread ive ever read.

I like to think of acceleration as area under the dyno curve. That means more than peak numbers.

They're both in the equation, theorefore they both are necessary. And what are you asking? You feel torque down low, and that makes everyday driving more fun. Torque up in the high rpm's is what wins races...since that's where you get power. Max torque is always at the same rpm, soreally the key is just maintaining close to this max torque for as many rpms after this as you can.
