You and me both. I guess if you buy a Prius it follows that you're not buying it for a brisk drive, but even slow why do they seem to disproportionately be the slow car in front when traffic a single lane road is crawling along? (I know there are exceptions, but as a rule...)

I believe that you will not be affected. The increase in passengers is for vehicles that can hold 3 people. Your car can legally hold only 2 maximum. Motorcycles ride in the carpool lane designated for 2 people but they are the only operator.

In SF it is already 3 people required to carpool lane. but if you have a two seater you can ride in it (and not pay the bridge toll too).

I think in general Prius drivers drive slow, and its not the car's fault. I've seen a few Priuses who jet through traffic
