I give you this: I know that the C6 Z06 to be the faster car in the group given the same driver, now can you tell me why is the base C6 a lot faster than the R8 and 911 turbo? Can you tell me why the GT500 is just .1 sec slower then the 911 turbo? give me some explainations?

Its not BS. Those track times, I'm sure, are real (they didn't make them up). Its just badly controlled experiment. You're right, the times are suspicious, especially for the GT500. Also, to add, the fact that so many cars are so close to last year's record.

It goes to show that each "track" is different: VIR, Nurburgring, etc. A car that's faster on one track may be slower on another. Another reason not to hold much stock in mag racing.

If you took a very, very twisty track with no long straights, you'd favor a light, sharp vehicle with a high slalom rating and high hp wouldn't make much difference. But if you take a long sweeping track, high hp would rule.

It's all about who drove the cars, their confidence level w/ each car, skill, experience w/ diff. types of platforms, etc.

I agree that some of the relative times are surprising and don't make much sense, but the cars don't drive themselves, and the driver is a big factor.

I agree with Chris S. Ideally the manufacturer would send their own hotshoe for each car. ie. the best driver to get the best time out of the car on that particular track.

I also don't know how the turbo is so slow it's odd.

I would take the GT3 anyway over the turbo this further goes to show how good the GT3 is set-up and how over-rated AWD is on a dry track.

I know pour some water on the track and you'd get some different numbers but most people don't race and/or push their car in the rain.

I sure don't understand the skepticism over this test. It looks kosher to me. I have driven a couple of these cars and ridden in several more of them and just don't see a time or comment from C&D that seems out of line.

A few seconds difference in a long three minute lap is exactly the results that make sense with these cars... the performance is in line with past tests.

A 1-2% difference in lap time does not invalidate your favorite car, it just shows there are a number of good ones and it is impossible for all of them to have identical test results.

A C6 Z51 is a very easy car to drive fast. It's balanced, very smooth/broad powerband, good brakes, good weight, etc.

I am surprised it is faster on this day, with this driver, on this track, than a 997 Turbo and R8. However, it isn't THAT big of a surprise.

Can't wait for my C6 so I can start wailing on other cars at the track like I used to do with my C5.
