I drove a BRZ and hated it

I guess, but in these cars, how often are you at 100+? In my stock S2k at the local tracks I hit a max in the 110 range... that's not much time and well before that, the S2k has destroyed the BRZ so it's kind of a moot point.

It's also a coupe, so that (more) upright windshield of a convertible isn't required (roll-over protection). That's one of the biggest killers of the S2000 - the windshield is just so upright compared to a typical fixed-roof sportscar.

According to Mike CSG, a stock BRZ will pull on a stock S2000 above 100 - thanks to a more slippery shape. Nevermind a modded one.

Well said.

i dont know why, but your review gave me some good laughs. the only thing the BRZ & FRS have going for them is low speed oversteer on the track (which is what they are supposedly made for) and looks. Thanks for the review!

Looks like a BRZ STI is actually going to happen. Some big announce coming on June 8th. Still highly doubt it'll be turbocharged, but if it's coming with the big wing they're teasing then hell who knows maybe it will?!?!

I highly doubt they'all add FI. Subaru does this, aero bits, colors, makes a spectacle. Same old got damn power and torque. We've already seen the spy pics. No intercooler visibile.

My own experience does not support this. I have a MY00 and a friend I track with has a 2013 FRS. Both are stock except for more camber up front and upgraded brake pads. We both run 200 TW tires. We have swapped cars several times. The two cars on the track are nearly identical in performance, but the experience of driving them is quite different. At HPR on the long back straight my final speed before braking is 115 and his is 107. We have pretty similar entry speeds to the straight, although he might be a little faster. So the S2000 pulls the FRS on a sustained straight, albeit this is at altitude of ~5k feet. And regardless of speedo numbers, when we take turns following each other, I stay on his tail when following on the straight and pull him a little when leading.
It's the opposite in the corners, especially higher speed ones, where the rear end of the FRS is more planted and enables it to carry a bit more speed on entry with less drama.
All that said, the difference in driving experience is huge. The S2000 motor is so visceral as it revs to 9k. As everyone here knows, you have to keep it above 6k to be in VTEC otherwise it's slow. The FRS has a more linear torque curve and is smoother at high revs and doesn't feel as exciting. But the fact is the two cars are quite close in their performance envelope. And compared to the "lively" rear end of my early S2000, the FRS is easier to drive to the limit - there really aren't any surprises.
All that said, every time my friend drives the S2000 he comes back grinning and comments on how much fun it is - it's certainly the more entertaining of the two.
