Default I have the bug to buy a Civic Si for my wife

I need to buy my Mrs. a nice present for a pretty major birthday soon. I am strongly considering a 06 Civic Si as a present. We had previously talked about getting an SUV or something for her but I don't think that is going to happen. I think she would love the Si and of course I would get to use it at times too Our beater car that she drives now is a 2001 Accord. I just drove it 1500 miles over the holiday weekend. That experience only fuels my interest in getting something better. Now don't feel too sorry for her, having to drive an old Accord while I ride in the S. We previously owned an MR2 and that was her primary ride for almost 10 years, while I drove the uninspiring sedans. She loved that car and enjoys driving the S when I will let her. So my point is, we need something for her that is a daily driver and can be used on the occasional full day trip when I am the main driver. It wouldn't be too bad to go from driving the S to a coupe that has a very strong resemblance to the S. I haven't had an opportunity to drive an Si. All the reviews sound encouraging. Our local dealer says they have one arriving next week that hasn't been claimed yet. They got one in today that was already pre-sold. If there is anybody with some personal experience with the 06 Si I would be very interested in hearing about it.

I drove it a few months ago and it is a fantastic car as well as Car of the Year. it is fast, good gas milage, etc. if you like the shape, get it. msrp is the number imo.

Maybe you should ask her what she wants to drive

The '06 Si is a pretty decent car IMO so if you think she'd be interested in a car like that I say go for it.

Well it looks like we won't be getting the Si, but could still be getting a Civic EX with manual trans. I took a good look at one today. I like it. The trunk is surprisingly roomy. 40 mpg hwy sounds pretty good and the car seems nice.
So because I am not likely getting the Si, I do know where one is going to be delivered and has not been claimed. This dealership just received and delivered an Si yesterday. They can be had. Send PM if interested in knowing the dealership.

BTW the 40 mpg EPA estimate is for 5AT. The 5MT is rated at 38 mpg freeway.
