If I were in the same boat I wouldn't want an NSX before 97 unless it were a
Type R. I have driven a 91 and other then at the time it being the best car I had ever driven it still wasn't much faster then the 03 S2K I have now.

In terms of price, there is no doubt the 91 would win here but a used 97 in excellent condition with about 25K miles on it goes for about $5K more then a new S2K. With a 97 you could really say you are upgrading from what you have now.

Man, that would be a tough choice. I can completely relate to your '7 year itch.' Mine comes around every three years or so. That is why I leased the S. I had planned on giving it back and then getting the newest thing, but I fell in love and couldn't part with it. I still want another car, but am going to keep the S and try to get another as well.

Saying all that, it would still be a tough choice unless I had to make some sort of payments, then I would keep the S since it's paid off.

exactly it.....don't get me wrong, I like the 91 NSXs.....I had one doing 140mph and the car was still so strong and planted, it was a completely different feeling than the S.....in this situation...I would keep the S. my .02

A 15 year old car designed in the 80's that is surpassed in performance by a few family sedans and anything resembling a sports car.

Why?

ouch.

But in the same sense, an s2k is surpassed in performance by some family sedans.

I think if you really wanted one, you would have not been wrong to get it. had you bought it, not liked it, it would have sold.

I understand the itch too, only being in college now the itch is not as strong (because I have more bills and responsibilities) That being said I am in the market now for an S2k.

Keep the S2000, NSX is old technology and the pre 97's are pretty slow. Plus a 5spd in an exotic car is unacceptable not to mention 91's only had 270 hp from a 3.0L V6.

That made me chuckle

I would vote for the s2k. 91- snap ring?, timingbelt/water pump?, tires- all those things would be quite pricey. on a 04 s2k- none of those issues would prop up.

A NSX is Honda but it doesn't have Honda maintenance prices. Expect the NSX to cost more-tires, mods are way more expensive. I justify my NSX by driving a Accord as a DD/beater and knowing that my wife won't get to spend that money
