Default I need a Beater!

hey guys,
I'm looking to get a beater over this xmas break... i guess a gift for my S2k, so i don't have to drive it everyday.
I'm looking to get something for under a grand... i just need something to get me around.
what does everyone suggest? any personal experiences? I got a list in my mind, but i'd figure i'd get the opinions on here, but for i find my beater...

Why do you need a beater in San Diego? That's more of a question for guys who live up here in the snow belt and even many of us drive our S's all winter long.

As for the beater .................. It's a "beater". Who cares what it is? PLUS, you have not stated your price range, intended use, frequency of use. How can anyone help you? You must expect us all to be fortune tellers?

If you are really looking for help in your decision why don't you outline some criteria for us to help you narrow down your infinite choices (price range, gas efficiency, four doors or two, ...). Not knowing what you are looking for I would say the H2 Hummer would be a good stable mate for the S2k being that it is a polar opposite.

he stated price.. under a grand.

That seriously limits potential cars. you should be able to grab an old civic, toyota, or saturn though.

hit up autotrader and do a search within 50 miles for every car under $1000..then pick the one with lowest miles
