Not sure of USD price, but I would suggest looking at a 02-03 Mazda Protege. Wagon Hatch, nice styling in my opinion. Has a 2.0 motor. I put a intake on mine and an exhast. It was a blast to drive.

I had a 98 Prelude a couple of years back. I loved that car. It looked good, option of mods, fun to drive but pretty smooth for a daily too, decent power....all in all it was a great car. I'd deff look into one as a daily. The only downfall though is that i don't know if yo can buy one for 5k.

If you mean the US Protege5 I agree. That is a great car and they are cheap right now.
I got rid of mine is 2006. I regret it because it is fun, good on gas and I still like the styling.

We used to have a 00' CRV 4WD it was a great grocerygetter/ daily
Very reliable
Great in the snow
Decent gas mileage
inurance was dirt cheap
Holds its resale value surprisingly well
Gets little or no attention from anyone
Kind of a bore to drive

What is a reasonable price for a 96 GSR? There is one on CL up here with 136k for $6000

I need a new kid hauler to go with the S2000 and am leaning towards something like this or a CRV.

^ thats too much for an old car. My brother just bought a GSR with a type R bottom end and fully built motor for $4000. It did 195whp/135tq on the dyno. Stage 4 cams, everything on it, with about ~40k on the motor.
