What makes this car so expensive - rarity/demand? What was the price brand new?

I paid $19,400 for my '94 model new. It was probably the best car I'll ever own, right up until I totaled it with 252k miles on it. I don't think a "new" '97 is worth $15k, but I can see why unmolested examples are still pretty pricey.

i would have a lot of trouble paying 15k for a 97 also. Regardless of the mileage. Might as well put a couple grand more for another car with more features.

Can't blame them for trying to get 15k for it. It's a rarity and somebody might pay it. I woudln't, though.

Mine was red and worth that much money back when, not today. But hey, there are all sorts of nuts out there. IMO, it is worth maybe $10K (still 2x the price of clean older examples).
