Faster than a Porsche 918 around Laguna Seca. Not sure if that is a real surprise or not, though the cost difference between the two is astronomical.

Don't you hold the fastest record at buttonwillow? Or is that just for "production vehicle"

Cannot believe that FCA will allow a car like this to cease production. Who knows what tomorrow's technological and material advances could do for future Vipers.

Possibly. I'm not aware of a lap time that's faster from a unibody car, let alone one with untouched suspension pickup points.

Having driven & tracked pretty much every version of Viper, including the impressive ACR-X, and looking at the specs of the new ACR, I would have to disagree. It's really a " racecar" for the street and downforce is so important in making a car go fast, also having 295/355 (essentially) slicks and 650hp make its performance unsurprising. The 918 is heavy, has a lot of tech, but not a lot of aero compared to the ACR.
