In a car that can generate nearly ONE TON of downforce, it's no wonder it's as quick as it is. Add in tires that are as sticky as some R-compounds and it's even less surprising.

Question is, will the owners be able to dial it in as well as the factory did?

Watch this video and note the lateral g forces. This is a race car disguised as a street car:

Yeah that nearly 2 g Lat is amazing.

The massive down force isn't in the corners though

Considering most cars have near-zero downforce at those cornering speeds, it's a big improvement. Lots of those corners had 300-800 lbs of downforce, which is significant.

Impressive? Sure, but as others said, it's not a "street car." It's crazy how mfrs keep putting more and more tire on cars in an effort to get better "metrics" like lap times, G forces, etc. It results in a very skewed apple to oranges comparison imo. Not that more tire is necessarily bad, but then you have all sorts of internet experts claiming X is better than Y because it hit 3g's on the skidpad due to 600mm tires..

Yep a new Z06 with Z07 package comes with Cup2 tires. Can't imagine how often those would have to be replaced. What tires does the new ACR come with?

Right from the article

Tire, chassis combo keeps Viper ACR glued to the roadThe 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is fitted with Kumho® Ecsta V720 high-performance tires designed specifically for the car with unique tread pattern and compounds for front and rear. In testing, the new tires produce lap times that are 1.5 seconds faster than off-road-only race tires.

Low-profile front tires measure 295/25/19 and are mounted on wider 11-inch wide wheels and when combined with the 355/30/19 rear tires provide the largest combined tire patch available on any production car. On the sidewall of the new tires is a unique raised ACR logo.

Agree, race car with license plate, not the other way around. The one at COTA they had to take off the diffuser and front splitter just to get it on/off the truck.
