I drove an 07 wrangler unlimited 4 door press vehicle last week and I was unimpressed. My parents have an 05 wrangler rubicon which doesn't do much for me either. The problem with the wrangler is that it's a great off roader, but it makes a TERRIBLE on road vehicle. The two door wrangler has such a short wheelbase and is so high that it feels plain scary on the freeway. The knobby rubber you get with the rubicon package will drive you nuts with the horrible ride and noise. Build quality isn't all that great either. The new 07, in my opinion, isn't much of an improvement over the previous gen.

If you're looking for a good off-roader that you can use as a daily driver, check out a nissan xterra. Much better vehicle in my opinion. Good luck in whatever you decide to go with though!

My buddy was a $x$ fanatic and bought one back in I believe 03. The thing was the biggest piece of crap. He even admitted that it was a mistake to buy it. 3 months after buying it, the thing started spitting out dark smoke.. sat at the dealer for a month. The rear lights blew out every month. The instrument consul that was kind of a box screwed into the dash would turn off completely off all the time... no Speedo or nothing.

I refused to ride in it. The thing wobbled back and forth on the road so harshly that we went on a trip of 300 miles with them and we literally had whiplash the next morning from it.

And no offense to our gay owners around here but the Wrangler did win the award as the most wanted popular care for a male homosexual.

No, I'm not intending to buy it for off-roading. I just always have a sort of fascination for one--its style. It wouldn't be a weekend toy or a daily driver. It's just for use anytime I desire, including commuting to work.

I'm going to ask the dealership to let it for for $20K flat. If they agree, I will buy it. If not, I'll hold off on it. MSRP is over $25K.

If it's what you want, get it because it's your money and you can spend it anyway you please. But honestly, since you aren't going to be using this vehicle for off-roading, I really think you're wasting your money. It's great off road, but horrible on road.

I own two and love them. I don't go off roading other than to drive on the beach. Wranglers make going slow fun.

I guess the Wrangler has it all if the Gay's love them as someone felt the need to report, but the girls sure do like the vehicle as well.

MPG is relatively poor, so factor that in the budget.

The 6 cyl engine is bullet proof.

The Jeep community is very friendly. Plan on having to wave to all of them on the road. Probably like the S2K crowd except there are a lot more Jeeps out there.

If you are used to parking your Honda as far away as you can in the mall lot, you'll enjoy being able to park your Jeep anywhere you want as other vehicle doors won't really reach the Jeep's.

I'm on my 5th wrangler and would definately recommend one. I only really drive it when its crappy out, around town and if I'm taking my mountain bike to some trails. The driving experience is the exact opposite of an S2000. A bit scary if you aren't used to it but perfectly fine after you know what you are doing. If it does anything well it is take a beating. I baby my S2000 and its nice not to really care all that much about a new vehicles condition. I have an 06 civic sedan to take on long trips as the Jeep isn't all that great in that aspect, but they are fun at the beach.

Gas mileage is the only real downside, but if you can afford an S paying a couple extra bucks a week shouldn't break the bank. Besides, its perfect for snow which is the biggest plus for me living in PA and you can put the top down in the summer. Its a pretty inexpensive vehicle so what's not to like?

If all you are doing is driving around town, save some money and get the 4 cyl, but if you plan on going on the highway a 6 cyl is a must unless you like being in the slow lane.

Not a fan of the unlimited version though. It just doesn't look right to me, but it is functional. Can't go wrong with the employee pricing promo right now.

Can't stand them. Sure, they're capable off road and in the snow and such, but man, they are rough to ride in. They bounce around, feel tippy, don't have a lot of grip, the interior is nothing special, and they're not very powerful. Depreciation is great - you can always sell it again for relatively little loss - but otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. The only attraction I can see is the ability to go topless (the truck, not you) and handle inclement weather (snow, especially). Otherwise, it's a pointless vehicle if you're not offroading.

I think girls/women who drive wranglers are hot, but done right it is hardly a chick car.

Here is one of my old toys:

OP, make sure to get the manual . . . I'll concede that a wrangler with an automatic could be considered a girls car.

I love wranglers. I had an 01 sahara.... lots of low end torque with the stick.... can go offroad.... convertible... hauls 4 people......

I drove mine 15k miles without any problems other than a recall on something in the engine....

you guys bitch about the ride, but the S2000 has a shitty ride as well.... it is just lower to the ground. only idiots flip wranglers.... i am an idiot and I didn't even come close to flipping mine.

Post pics if you get one.

Zack - i like the lift and big tires on yours....not sure about those Flash Gordon thingies on the doors though???
