I don't want to argue, but how the heck are 2 dogs getting in the back seat of a coupe?

Good lick with your car.

IMO 4 doors >> 2 doors

It sounds as if you are buying the 1-series even if the EVO hands it it's ass.
We aven't even seen mitsu's trademark car perform. I'd take the new evo anyday.
Highrpmek, have you ever tracked the S2k and actually taken the car to the limit? If not i'd certainly recommend it because driving on the S2 on the streets and driving on a track are way different. Add a couple mods to the car like a modded suspension and a non-staggered wheel setup will really give you a difference of opinion on the car and its "Limits."

I don't think the 135i is going to walk the Evo X. The two cars will be very similar in performance.
In the STOCK power dept, the 135i will chew up and spit out the Evo without even batting an eye lash. Anyone that has driven a 335 can attest to simply how awesome this engine truely is. 300 lb ft of torque at 2000 rpms? On a dyno? C&D just tested an automatic 335 and got a 13.4@106mph 1/4 mile time out of it. A few hundred pound weight savings and a stick would net ~13.2@108mph give or take. I'm sorry, but an evo will be a 102-104 mph max trap speed car if the reports of sub 280 hp are true.

In fact, say you can base a 135i for $35k. Which cars, for the price, would actually be faster? Are there any cars that can do 106+ mph trap times in this price range?

I concur. If a stock 335i has 300hp then you can call me Sally(my name is not sally)...haha. The 135i will win in the power department hands down. I can muster up 8-10 different sources that quote the 335i at 4.8 to 60mph on there own equipment. Also, the 335i's slalom times are grazing 70mph. I expect the 135i M to be there. But it should be interesting to see how well the 1's handling goes up against the EVO in dry weather. Wonder if the EVO X's new AWD system will be able to live up to the hype.

After close review of the press release. From what I understand, the curb weight comes in at 3274. If you want to shed another 50+ pounds, ditch those heavy ass run flats that BMW puts on here as standard.

It won't have the S54 or BMW cachet, but it's no slouch in its own right, and its more practical.
I believe you mean the N54...the S54 is the E46 M3 powerplant...3.2 liter NA inline six. The 135 will be base priced around $33K and you will need to order one of those as base cars will not be ordered as a general rule. Even metallic paint will cost extra...expect to pay close to $40K for a well optioned car.

Are you talking about the X? No one even knows what that engine will dyno like stock. The IX is dynoing around 255-260 at the wheels. I expect the X to be another 15-20whp higher then that. I believe it will be a lot closer then you think.

The X will not have less HP then IX. The IX already traps at 106 with a decent driver.

The X may very well be faster when it comes out but reports are lackluster on the engine dept so far (in terms of upgrade over the IX).

Look at the 0-140 times that C&D got out of both cars.

BMW 335 ~26 seconds
Evo IX ~ 32 seconds

That is NOT close by any means and the 135 will only be faster.
