3rd gear for the entire track but one corner? That's some tallllll gearing, Corey.
Nice videos.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Mark, yes the car has some broad gearing that let me stay in 3rd for the entire track. The engine's torque basically meant I didn't need to shift on the 3.1 MSR course.
The car tops out right at 125mph in 3rd gear which was perfect for the straightaways as I'd be right on the limiter going into the braking zone.

Now I've never driven an AWD car with a bazillion HP but it really looked like hat GTR was taking some funky lines. It sure was fast though.

Corey, did you have stability/traction control on or were you running with everything turned off? Can you comment on how easy the car was to drive?

The only thing I didn't like a little bit about it was that if I wanted a bit of rear-end rotation via a bit of tire spin, it would regulate the power to the point that the car wouldn't rotate. That said, rear-end rotation/oversteer is slower in 99.9% of cases on the track, except in exceptionally tight corners, so overall it's probably a good thing, just not as fun. It only regulates throttle and doesn't use the brakes at all which I like.
All that said, I will absolutely use race mode 5 at all future track events. It's a very, very good unobtrusive system. A recent magazine test of a ZR1 with a pro driver (Justin Bell, I think?) had the pro actually going a touch faster with the system than with everything off. So, it's an impressive feature that is standard on '10+ ZR1's. I hope it trickles down the the Z06 and base/Gran Sport Vettes.
On how easy it was to drive, it's obviously very powerful, but it's balanced and as long as you're smart with your control inputs, the car doesn't do anything unexpected. But things do happen pretty fast, so I would recommend starting with all the safety stability/traction programs on full alert and being easy with the car initially if you're coming from a Miata or something like that.
