neither?

why do you want a land rover? which model? I think until recently they are underpowered, bad milage, etc..... I think I would rather have a used MDX.... unless you actually plan to take it way off road???

You needed to post more details....

Land Rover's are horrendously un-reliable...

But the new ones look nice.

93 Range Rover or Defender? It kind of depends on what you want it for. For primarily off-tar use, I'd go with a 93 Defender - scratches will have minimal impact on value, and either one will likely benefit from new shocks/tires/brakes/etc. For a short daily commute it makes no difference. For a 15+ mile commute, I'd go with the Discovery. I'd only go with a 93 Range Rover if it was either a loaded model in absolutely pristine shape, or a stripper - you wouldn't gain anything having heated seats and electric mirrors that don't work.

do not go with any 90's model Disco or Range Rover, if you like spending money uncontrollably, go ahead!

I once spoke with a Land Rover who worked in corporate, he told me that the only way he would ever own a Land Rover is under warranty. He said they are extremely unreliable and expensive outside of warranty. Watch out for the airbag suspension too, it costs thousands to replace and doesn't even always make it to 75k miles (or so he says)

I'd avoid Land Rover like the plague.

J.D. Powers 2006 Dependabilty study measuring the reliability of 2003 models:

#37 Land Rover (bottom of the list)

JD Powers Initial Quality study for 2006 models:

#36 Land Rover (bottom of the list)

JD Powers CSI ratings for 2006 based on repairs and routine maintenance for 2003 to 2006 models:

# 33 Land Rover (the list goes to #36)
