So if a new car (8 mos old and less than 10K miles) has a problem (cylinder #2 misfire) 4x and the dealer can't fix it, what's the quickest way of having the POS bought back by the manufacturer? The dealer has been exceptionally helpful in recommending WRITING to Audi.

 

There are lawyers who handle that.

Just do a search online.

 

I agree. I lemon-lawed a car once up here in Washington and used a lawyer that was recommended to me. It could not have been easier. Audi even paid my attorney fees so I was out no money whatsoever. And it didn't even go through the formal proceedings. One letter from the lawyer with a proposed settlement was all it took.

Bill McGee got me 2.1 million dollars. Ok... maybe not, but he did get Mercedes to buy back my car and at absolutley no cost to me. Get all of your service records together and give him a call. IMO your case is simple and should take a few phone calls on his part. You will not need to go to court for this.

The 2006 FWD A3 2.0 was purchased at Steven's Creek Audi. If you want an Audi, go see Vinny. He's the best. Audi reliability...errrrr....not as good.

Issues:
4 CELS - all Cylinder number 2

Sunroof glass vibrated annoyingly at speeds over 75mph

Sunroof screen needed some fixing

XM radio died (wiring issue, not XM satellite issue)

Latch to glove compartment failed, conveniently locking all the contents inside (including house key and wallet).

I wonder if they do buy the car back as a lemon and put it out as a used car, will CarFax pick that information up? I'd hate to be buying a used lemon. Please tell us what color your A3 is. Thanks.

 

Update: Called the offices of Bill McGee. Agreed to pay 'em $500 if they were successful in getting Audi to buy back the car.

About three days later all the paperwork was done and Audi agreed to purchase the car back (cars been in the shop like 35 days in 6 mos. and had the same CEL 4x).

Only negatives are that they can jack you on normal cosmetic damage (rim rash, door dings) and you don't get ALL your money back--they deduct for miles, which I suppose is fair, but it's not like I'm getting any credits for all the pain in the ass that this process has caused.

In any case, Audi's been pretty cool about it all.
