Default Lexis IS350

I test drove the Lexus IS350 yesterday...

I liked it I thought it had good power for a 4 seater/4 door.

However I for sure like the s2000 better...

What does everyone else think?

I think no one should be cross shopping an S2000 and a Lexus IS as they are in two completely different categories. One is an entry level luxo sedan with sporting intentions and the other is a bare bones and raw sports car.

Seeing as this is an S2000 forum, you will certainly find a lot of S2000 love here. The Is is also a great car. I like the styling and find the only real down fall is that most say the rear seat is somewhat cramped and the only engine option for a manual transmission is the weaker 2.5 6 cylinder.

But again, it is odd that one would be shopping for two seat sports cars and also considering luxury sedans.

odd first post. I think the car is great for the money if you want an auto transmission.

If you want a manual you gotta go BMW 3 series.

Just because they are not in the same class of cars does not mean an auto enthusiasts would not cross shop the two. I did. They are very different but equal in that one has the sporting edge and the other has the smooth (lux)/tech edge. In other words, I would be equally happy with either...for different reasons.

I've own and Is350 and I couldn't disagree more. These 2 cars have absolutly nothing in common. Theres about a 1% chance that someone would actually be cross shopping these 2 cars and thats probalby only becasue the S2000 is their garage car and the IS350 is the dailey driver.

Some people are just looking for a cool car. Whether its a Mini Cooper, S2000, IS350, Corvette, etc - I could see someone cross shopping all these not because they are neccessarily looking to use the vehicle as its "intended" - think of all the old farts with Vettes that sit year round and when they are driven get driven like a they're made of glass.

OP - Decide what you're looking for in a car and go with what works best for you.

I have an IS250 which is basically the same minus the extra 80hp or so. They are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT cars. Road feel, comfort, style everything is on the opposite ends of the earth. They're both great cars but for very different reasons.

I hated my test-drive of an IS350.

Even for a luxury cruiser it's so soft and numb.

The steering is worthy of the Toyota-Lexus badge...complete crap.

Ive owned a lot of cars known for good steering like my S2000's or my Sti and even my old CRX's (much less cars like my Brothers 08 M3)... But the IS350 is hardly *soft* or *numb* in any way imaginable and I put 15K miles in one. I seriously doubt anyone who says "my *test* drive". In fact, in the 20 cars Ive owned in the last 15+ years I would say the Is350 is the most *solid* even over cars like my old MDX and Axura TLs. I have yet to see a car as well put together and engineered. Sure it doesn't *feel* like an S2000 on the road but its not a *sports* car.
