It's a Solara convertible with a v8 weakling.
We had one in the household for a bit.
Boring car.
The V8 is the same that you find under the LS430 and GS430
I don't know if I would call it a weakling

It is just meant for a cruiser - boring. Because the hardtop and the reinforcement they added, the car is not light. Otherwise that V8 would be a beast if the SC430 was like say, S2000's weight.

Also, the V8 is bullet proof and very reliable. you can drive the wheels off of this thing. I'd goto Clublexus if you want to add some modifications. I've seen nicely done SC430's so it is POSSIBLE... just don't expect too much

I'd driven this car and found it to be quite a cruiser - very comfortable, soft to the touch, luxurious, quiet, serene, etc., while having a really nice ML audio system. The overall quality was excellent as well. It's a heavy and not-so-fun car, but serves its purposes very well. I wouldn't mind having one as a DD.

Like an SL. Only worse. And uglier.
I get the comparison, the target demographic, etc., but it isn't even close. The SL is a vastly superior car in my opinion, in both looks and performance.

Hence "Only worse. And uglier". I say they're similar in the realm of what they're intended to be: a big, cushy, fast, GT car. But Lexus seemed to have missed it in every way. MB got it totally right with the SL.

Got it. We agree.

And I remembered which mag called the SC430 the worst test drive they ever did. I'm pretty sure it was EVO.

The SC is a small, floating, slow, shopping cart. I would not put it in the same category of the SL

A better comparison would be *cough* 911 Conv. *cough*, BMW 3 Conv., Ford Mustang Conv., Infinity G37 Conv., Lexus IS Conv., MINI Cooper and MB CLK Conv.

They aren't even close in price though.

Why is everyone saying they're slow it does 0-60 in under 6 seconds
