When did you drive a US-spec Fiesta that isn't even released yet?
They might of had US-spec ones at the car shows here. Not sure if they were U.S. spec or not. Kudos to ford for building something more efficient/fun/better looking than the fit.

I test drove both.
Fit wins.

Drive both and compare. Different strokes for different folks.
When did you drive the Fiesta?

I can agree that it's good to see some US companies back in the lime light. and good to see some Asian competitors falter
While I agree with your point, I would like to expound on the "falter" comment....

I about wrote a book on this but really lost track, so in summary... it is tough to stay on top forever. The big three fell from grace and were displaced by the Asian companies. Toyota is number 1, now everyone is gunning for them.. Maybe Hyundai will take over or Ford will work to the top... then whoever wins will fall at some point.

I am just glad Ford, GM, and Chrysler are producing things I want; I hope to buy one of their products soon.

Back on track for the thread, I like the looks of that Fiesta. Call me crazy but I think it would be awesome in an electric, I would rock that downtown in Chicago.

The Fiesta's biggest problem is anyone who remembers what a piece of crap the earlier clowncar Fiestas were. Why on earth would they reuse a name from such an uninspired loser-mobile?!
I knew guys who raced Fiestas in SCCA SSC long ago and they were pretty good. Wheel-center probs are all I recall.

OTOH, if you want evocative Euro Ford names, why not Cortina? Or my favorite, Consul Classic Capri Crayford Convertible with retro styling to match? (Wow, that would be one looong badge).

YMMV

Cute! When I bought my 1977 Rabbit, IIRC the Fiesta came out right after that. The Fiesta was better-looking but had 12" wheels and carb instead of FI .

Semi-back-on-topic: All the pics of the new Fiesta are 4 (well 5) doors. No 3-door version? The whole car industry is conspiring to get me into an over-3000lb 4-door with a slushbox, but I'm not giving up without a fight.

And that link also shows an Anglia 105E -- would be neat to make an Allardette replica out of, as long as we're talking interesting Fords.

Oh, never driven a Fit; cute but again too many doors!
