Default Looking for input on the Nissan 350Z

Currently looking into a 350z as I have never owned one before. I've driven a friends and it was pleasant enough, the torque was refreshing but I'm unfamiliar with the long term issues. Looking for any feedback from previous owners. Please specify what year you had as well please, I'm looking for anything positive or negative. If it's not as bad of a car as I already assume it is then I will pick up a pre-owned one to play with.

**The reason I already have bad assumptions is because I owned an 03' G35 before and I know a lot of the issues are common among the cars.

2003 tire feathering
2006 oil consumption
2007+ is the HR motor which has some issues but I can't remember

Crappy interior quality. I'm not just taking about plasticy interior. But a lot of it scratches and nicks/chips easily (as bad as the e46 if you are familiar wth that)

Heard of some 2nd and 3rd gear synchro issues on the g35. Not sure if that's for z as well

Generally reliable overall

All 06' models had oil consumption issues?
What about reliability from you previous/current owners? Reliability wise I think I read somewhere that the S2000 was rated one of the top reliable sports cars while the 350z didn't even rank.

Not comparing it to the s2000 but just trying to get an idea of it's reliability.

Never owned one. Not the car for me. Friend owns/owned two 350zs. And another friend owns the g35 coupe with 2nd gear synchro issue.

They both have 70/80k miles without issues.

Nothing wrong in comparing the s2k to the z. There's lots of threads on that topic on pretty much any forum I frequent.

I bought an '03 new in May of 2003. Had it for 90k and 5 years before selling it. The only issues I had were tire feathering (Nissan replaced 2 front tires and did an alignment for free) and both window motors went at about 4 years and 65k - 70k miles. Other than that all I had to do was replace the brake pads and tires about every 20k miles. Overall, I enjoyed the car and found it to be a softer and much quieter (even with a Nismo exhaust) than the s2000 for my daily r/t commute of 90 miles. Now that I live in CA with a 5 mile commute I wouldnt trade the S for anything.

More than anything, the rear strut brace killed it for me.

I drove I believe an 05 for about 90 mins on the hwy. Great as a grand tourer. Was very comfortable to me and while not nimble it could maintain a high level of grip through steady state corners. It was my friends car and in his time of ownership he did not have any mechanical issues. A nice tune and the car came to life and was smoother throughout the rev range.
