Looking for input on the Nissan 350Z
03 tire feathering, there was a recall for the fuel line for the 03-04.
The oil consumption is for the rev up motor which started in the 05 anniversary cars (not all 05s) through 06. 07 has a clutch slave or master cylinder problem. The HR engines (07-08) are considered to be solid. The oil consumption problem as I recall didnt cause the engine to fail or anything, just consumed oil as far as I remember. Early 05 cars and the HR cars seem to be the ones to get for me.
I like them alot, to call the interior cheap considering it;s a 30k sportscar is well, sorta unfair as the s2000 in 2000 had shag carpet and didnt even have a clock with a standard cheapo cd deck. Great car if that's what you're looking for, it prob wont beat an s2000 in an autocross, but it prob will on a track.
The synchro issues seem to just show up on all years... remember, the car makes torque, and the S2000 trans isnt as reliable as everyone here makes it out to be, just type in syncho in the UTH forum, and how many ap1 owners cant get into first easily on a cold morning.
Buy it, care for it, dont dump the clutch and drift every corner and itll run for years.

Had mine for the last 3 years going 4 come next June. It's an 03 touring silverstone with tangerine interior and the car was styled similar to my s2k. I was bought with 63k on it and now sits at 95k. Now all Z from 03-05 suffer from tire feathering issue. The cars will eat up rear tires if not properly aligned at least once a year (which I recommend doing for any and all cars anyway). Just ran me another $1200 to redo all the tires again this past summer since I only got 2 years out of the others with only putting 8k a year on it. Th 06's suffered from burning oil on the HR engine's. The 07's for the most part have been pretty good.
Also forgot to mention 03-06 suffer from 3rd gear tranny issue's where you will get a grind no matter how you shift. Eventually down the road the tranny will failed. This is well documented on my350z.com which I also belong to (user name 350 x) and 2 years ago I picked up an extra tranny just in case it happens.
Also most if not all 350's suffer from the belts stretching and you start to get a very loud screeching noise when starting your car in cold weather. Mine just started doing it this fall before I put it to sleep and it's an easy fix just by tightening the belt.
The car suffers from the lots of creaks and clicks due to not having great fit and finish quality control. The leather in the car is not that great (not as bad as in American cars in that era) and most of it's plastic. I tweak my interior like I did with my s2k so that wasn't much of a problem with me.
It's has been a great spring, summer and fall daily that see's rain (drive slow, it will kick out while just slowly shifting from a stand still due to the torque. The real pisser with it has been I have been getting 6 days out of a full tank driving 50 miles roundtrip to work running 93 octane.
Any questions just let me know I'll be happy to help.

Thanks for the info Mike, I guess having the large quantity of vehicles I've owned in my lifetime being Honda/Acura I've been spoiled. Common knowledge is that all vehicles will have it's pros and cons but I can't help comparing every other make and model to my Honda.
Btw what front lip is that on your 350z? Looks nice.

I previously owned an 03 Daytona Blue "enthusiast" trimmed 350z. I did not have any major issues with it, just a random assortment of more minor issues. The biggest issue was that 3rd gear would grind on high-rpm shifts if I didn't shift slowly. During my ownership (sold it with 78k miles on it) offhand I remember replacing the cooling fan motor, passenger window motor, an o2 sensor and an ignition coil. Other than that it was just routine maintenance. It made an excellent GT car for cruising on the highway. Lots of torque at any rpm and it would easily cruise at low rpms at interstate speeds with a smooth ride and relatively low noise levels. On the interstate it was almost as fuel efficient as my s2k (26-27mpg) but around town it averaged closer to 18-19mpg. In the end, it just wasn't as exciting to drive as the s2000 is. As a daily driver on the interstate, I would give the 350z the edge... as a true enthusiast's sports car I would give the s2000 my vote. My daily drive is a Genesis Coupe (which is more similar to the 350z than the s2k) so the s2k is the car for when I just want to drive for the fun of driving.
To clarify, the "rev up" engines had the oil burning problem, not the HR engines. The rev ups were the late 05s (anniversay edition, but I think all late 05s, dont know when the cut off was) and 06s. The HR engines were the 07-08s.
