Looking for a new car...
#22
I've been in this situation for a long time too. What I'm looking for may be slightly different than what you're looking for, but I'll offer my thoughts for what it's worth.
(I originally had a long tl;dr post about where my search has led me, but I decided to spare the details.)
After considering a plethora of NSX's, C6 Z06's, 1-series, Caymans, etc.. I'm finding myself shopping for my 3rd S2000. I used to laugh at the S2000 owners who've sold their cars only to buy another S2000 because I thought it was silly. Eventually, I found that the harder I tried to leave the S2000 behind and move on, the more frustrating the search became.
I am curious to see what you end up getting. All the cars you've listed are great cars, but I still think for $25,000, the S2000 is a tough car to beat.

We like the Z06 but the interior is absolutely vomit inducing. We looked at an '01 and the interior was a Tupperware greaseball. I like some of these suggestions..

You might consider how it comes across when you share your opinions on the design quality of the CTS or C5 Z06 interior and whether it is appropriate for the price of the car considering you could barely afford either, even used.

Here are pictures of the actual vehicles we looked at:

If you don't understand or appreciate the aesthetic appeal of the German counterparts listed, then so be it.

What I understand is you call people "stupid" if they dare disagree with you. What a winner :/
You see the BMW and Porsche interiors as "better," because you want to. The BMW is just busy, buttons implanted in a slab they drew lines on and called it "designed." I find black plastic slabs boring and hardly "better." And there's not much to see of the Porsche interior in the pics you posted. But I'm not all that impressed from the one's I've seen. I'd be buying a Porsche for reasons other than the dashboard styling. But that's just me.
And my point was you are complaining about the interior on cars your budget doesn't really cover. I realize it makes you feel good to say the Z06 interior is terrible given you aren't buying it anyway. But really kind of childish. Not that I'm surprised, given how you deal with opinions other than your own.

I vote ls2 C6, you can find one for 25k relatively easily now, especially as we're entering winter.
i passed on the C5s due to the interior but the C6 is quite an improvement. Yes the seats definitely suck and the interior is still quite disgusting, but the performance, MPG, reliability factors make it a great value at 25k. I opted for the LS3 model for its better powerplant, better transmission, slightly better interior, etc. but the purchase price was higher than 25k.
I was in the same boat a few months ago and even though the german M/AMG cars can be had for around that price I would not want to deal with maintenance/problems if they were to occur. The BMW variants come in stick but lacked torque, whereas the AMGs only came in auto. Vette was the best of both worlds, but obviously minus the German interior/ride quality.
